Jackie first qualified as a commercial cook in England, before emigrating to Canada in the late 60s. She graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Masters Degree in Health Administration in 1979.
Prior to her cruising departure from Sidney, British Columbia in 1998, she was a partner in a private planning consultancy. She started sailing in 1987 and spent a decade sailing local waters in the Gulf and San Juan Islands, and Vancouver Island before adventuring away with her husband Malcolm, on a route that included the west coast of the Americas and a south Pacific crossing to Tasmania, before heading into SE Asia.
Jackie now lives with her husband in the Comox Valley, where she manages a retirement community.

Malcolm Holt
Malcolm Holt graduated with an Honours Degree in architecture from Manchester University in 1967. After emigrating to Canada in 1968 he worked on public and private construction projects in Manitoba and Alberta. He co-founded a planning consultancy with Jacqueline in 1980.
In 1996, Malcolm spent two years preparing Aeolus XC for ocean cruising, prior to departing from Sidney, Vancouver Island.
Since returning to land-based life in 2007 Malcolm has focused on writing for cruising and retirement living magazines, as well as manuscripts for his forthcoming books. His key areas of interest are global current affairs, and public health and economic challenges in the developing world.
Additionally, he prepares press releases for a variety of clients and organizations, and undertakes desk top publishing commissions for individual clientele.
Together with Jacqueline, he designs and stages presentations on a diverse range of topics, using material and firsthand observations from his travel archives.
